I am continually inspired and horrified by parking lots. Their lack of architectural interest, vast scale, and the speed at which they grow and spread is continually unsettling to me. Living in the Hudson Valley and finding myself using parking lots on a regular basis, unexpected details began to grab my attention. In this series, photographs of snow mounds and discarded shopping carts have been collaged with small areas of color in an effort to insert my own aesthetic considerations into the parking lot’s neutral emptiness.
